DO YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT CALDER VALLEY YOUTH THEATRE?

Calder Valley Youth Theatre is a vibrant and active youth theatre and registered charity based in Hebden Bridge.

Established over 30 years ago, CVYT was formally known as The Calder Valley Juniors.  During this time hundreds of children, aged from 8-18, have passed through our doors to learn about musical theatre, dance, acting and many of the technical aspects of theatre production.

Many of our past members have gone onto further their education and careers in the performing arts, some appearing in the West End and on TV. The experience and ethos provided by the volunteers at CVYT has had an enviable effect on our youngsters and we continue to be amazed at the talent and dedication many of them have shown.

We strive to be an ‘all inclusive’ society and therefore work hard to keep costs to a minimum so that everyone has access to our productions. In addition to our small membership subscription (see below), our members, volunteers, parents and trustees raise the large amounts of money required to run the society and to produce our ambitions shows. By fundraising in this way, we keep our ticket prices for our shows affordable for everybody and have remained static for many years.

Our membership subscription depends on what show your child is taking part in.  The fee ranges from around £15 – £20 for our Big Spring Concert or our Play in a Day to around £70 – £80 for our main show in November.  This includes ALL rehearsals and costumes.  We try not to charge for any other incidentals and endeavour to keep our costs as low as we can for both our members and our audience.

We rehearse at Hebden Bridge Town Hall and our rehearsal days are Tuesday and Friday evenings from 7.00 to around 9.30 pm and Sunday afternoons. However, not all cast will be necessarily called to every rehearsal in the early part of rehearsals but we do expect cast to attend if called.

The success of our shows are dependant upon the work of all cast, crew, trustees, parents and supporters put in.

We have a small tuck shop for the cast to buy sweets and drinks which in turn raises money towards each show.

For information on our legal obligations to our cast and members, please see our ‘OUR COMMITTEE’  page which illustrates our commitment to the welfare of our cast and members.   All committee members have been checked using the statutory DBS service (CRB Checks) and we have all undertaken a first aid course.
